Modern House refurbishment in Lymington

Adam Knibb Architects were approached to review an existing old run down family bungalow. The property which had been in the clients family for generations had reached the end of its life and was in need of a complete overhaul to meet the needs of the next generation.

A completely new build dwelling was proposed but with the family history in the property, it was felt that knocking it down would eradicate this and hence a refurbished option was cultivated.

The contemporary proposal uses modern living efficiencies for internal planning - with an open plan living / dining area, separate home office arrangements (with vaulted ceilings) and a large first floor & loft accommodation.

Our proposal 'took the roof off' the existing bungalow to add a full first storey and loft conversion. The new slate roof, timber cladding and rendered base was well received by the New Forest District Council Planning Department & clients to give a contemporary retrofit of an existing building. Internally, we completed a full fit out with a bespoke staircase, kitchen fit out and new windows.
